February 2001
What can I say? it's been a crazy 2 years, I won't even try to go in depth on everything I've been up to, I wouldn't even know where to start, I'll just try to mention some highlights, and post a bunch of pictures to look at.
I had totally lost touch with this website while out touring and recording, it has truly been the busiest 2 years of my life, in 99 I was still out playing live quite a bit, playing for Farmer's Daughter, Jim Witter, Sean Hogan, Gordie Tapp, and a whack of others throughout the year.
I really began focusing on songwriting in 99, as much as I could, and guitar studio credits for that year had me on Stephanie Beaumont's "Way over my heart" record on BMG, George Fox's Christmas album on Warner, I also went up north for a few months to work on a few records with Randal Prescott and Tracey Brown I played on about 10 other records, I'm not even sure who some of them were for??? really, it was a crazy year, and I managed to produce 2 records through all of that, one for Dave White, and the other for Orion 321, while still writing on a regular basis for several projects.
At the beginning of 2000, I couldn't take the pressure, I was really letting my songwriting and personal creative time slip, so, I started the year by going to Tobago, to write, be creative, hang in the sun, and escape the winter, I went with a group of close friends, Jason and Anne Barry, Terry and Nancy Kitner (Terry is the drummer for Carl Keys, Gordie Tapp, Nora Galloway and various other bands)
It was definitely the right way to start the year. 2000 turned out to be equally as creative, as work oriented.
In 2000, aside from joining John Landry, Steve Fox, Diane Chase, and Jason McCoy's live bands, which entailed allot of touring, and television work. I also did other shows with Gregg Hanna, Stephanie Beaumont, Colin Amey, Jamie Warren, and Diane Chase. In the studio I worked with Paul Gross (The Mountie from Television show "Due South"), did work for BMG records, The Essentials, Recorded 3 cuts of my own material, Produced the debut album for "Blend" with Jay Riehl, and spent a fair amount of time in Nashville writing.
I spent the beginning of this year in The Caribbean, as part of my new found annual ritual, I'll be headed to New Orleans this week for Mardis Gras, followed by a week back in Nashville, and I'm going to try to return to Tobago before the spring kicks in and things get even more crazy than they are.
There's a whole bunch of stuff missing, but it's 2:30am, and this is the best I can recall without pulling out my file-o-fax and putting all of the boring details in point form.
I do however want to get the Webmaster Robert, to make some video clips of the new John Landry Video I'm in, as well as some of the national television Appearances I've done in the last 2 years, the CCMA awards, Mike Bullard on the comedy network etc...
If we can put those together, they'll be posted right here, on this page. Also there is a whole new guest book being built, I became aware, a while ago, that the old one stopped working.
As for what's coming up for me, well, it's a secret, ha ha ha, you know what it's like, having a few potentials in the fire, but nothing concrete, I'm just best not to say, other than I'm sure to have an incredibly busy year ahead, it really has been non stop, and I'm in the midst of working on a bunch of things that I can't post, mainly because they're not finished, nor released yet, which sucks because I have a number of things I'm excited about that are limited to listening to in my car for the time being, however, I can say for sure that I'll be out touring this summer, as usual, and I'll most likely be quite a regular, hanging out at the circle in the round, songwriters events in Nashville, through out the year, I'll keep everyone posted as more things become closer to being finished!
I won't wait another 2 years for another entry.
