It has become virtually impossible to listen to Canadian radio, or watch an hour of CMT Canada, without seeing acts and artists David Kalmusky has worked with, seing him in videos, or hearing work he has contributed to in the studio. His Bio as you are about to find out, is a veritable who's who of the Canadian music industry. His contributions in the studio, and on stage over the last decade, are too vast to list on this page, but I've tried to compile a brief Biography for this site, to depict the pace that long time friend and colleague David Kalmusky has up held since the beginning of his career.

..........Music has been part of David Kalmusky's family for several generations. David's grandfather, Walter, was a successful saxophone player through the 30s, 40s, and 50s. David's father, Ken, is a bassist whom has worked with Ronnie Hawkins, Ian and Sylvia Tyson, The Great Speckled Bird, Todd Rundgren, Jerry Reid, and various members of The Band. Ken's contributions to the music industry have been noted in Time magazine, and in Barney Hoskyns' American novel Across The Great Divide.

...............David started studying and playing music at age 5. He learned music, mostly from his father Ken, as well as Janis Joplin's guitarist, John Till. David became influenced by R&B, Blues, Rock, Jazz, and Country at an early age.

...........David first performed live at age 14 and was playing full-time in bars at age 16.

At 17 he landed a gig writing, touring, and recording with some of the top players from England. Working with Gregg Dechert (formerly of Uriah Heep, Bad Company, and Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour's solo band), and Jodi Linscott (percussionist for Elton John, Paul McCartney, and The Who) led David to rub shoulders with members of Pink Floyd, The Who, and a large circle of players and management in the music industry.

After developing two records' worth of material (one with pop singer Natasha England) the group began to disintegrate as Jodi went on to do "The Who's" Reunion Tour, and continued on for the "Tommy tour", and Gregg went on to endorse Roland on a national tour.

David, then 18, carried on in the studio doing session and soundtrack work, and on stage touring coast-to-coast 13 times in 4 years until he was 22.

Around the age of 23, David joined Jamie Warren's band, as his guitarist for the summer. From this point on, David made his home in the Canadian Country music industry, the rest is history that you've seen, or heard on television and radio.

..............In the last 5 years David has been writing, producing, playing guitar, arranging, singing background vocals, as well as playing various other instruments such as lap steel, dobro, or mandolin on over 30 records and singles, as well as touring several months a year. Some of the acts David has worked with in the last few years are, Farmers Daughter (MCA/Universal) Diane Chase (Spin) George Fox (Warner Bros.), Jamie Warren (Mercury Polydor), Ken Munshaw (MCA), John Landry (Spin), Gill Grand (Spin), Jason McCoy (Universal), Jim Witter (Curb/EMI), Lawnie Wallace (MCA), Scott Kyle King (Sony), Stephanie Beaumont (BMG/Iron Music), . Just to name a few
